New York City Mayor Eric Adams has ended his re-election campaign just five weeks before voters head to the polls. Adams, elected in 2021, had been running as an independent after corruption charges against him were dismissed by the Trump administration earlier this year. Citing media speculation and the loss of public campaign funds, Adams announced his withdrawal in a video message. His exit reshapes the race, narrowing it to Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, former governor Andrew Cuomo, and Republican Curtis Sliwa. Polls show Mamdani leading by double digits, raising questions over whether Adams' departure further boosts his path to City Hall.
