Zimbabwe’s Parliament was hit with a power outage during the discussion of the Southern African country’s budget for next year. As the Finance Minister of Zimbabwe was wrapping up his speech, lights flickered and went out completely, sparking outrage from opposition members on the state of affairs in the country. Power outages have been a common sight in Zimbabwe due to the drying up of the reservoir of the Kariba dam, which has not left enough water levels for power generation. Households across Zimbabwe get only seven hours of power daily. The country has begun looking for alternative sources of power generation, along with its neighbour Zambia.
