Uganda’s coffee exports surged 59% year-on-year in September, cementing its position as Africa’s top coffee exporter. The country shipped 844,949 60-kg bags, up from 532,212 a year earlier, thanks to bumper harvests in the central and eastern regions. The agriculture ministry credited the surge to favourable weather, expanded plantations, and strong government support, including free seedlings and fertilisers. With exports on track for another record year, Uganda’s coffee sector continues to energise its economy — supporting millions of farmers and strengthening its global reputation as a leading supplier of high-quality beans.
