Trump's $5 Million Eswatini Deportation Deal Faces Heat | FirstpostAfrica

Eswatini is facing intense scrutiny after revelations of a secret $5 million agreement with the United States to accept foreign deportees, even if they were not Eswatini citizens. The deal, signed quietly in May, allowed Washington to send up to 160 third-country nationals from nations including Vietnam, Cuba, Yemen, and Laos. At least 15 deportees have already arrived and are being held in high-security prisons. Eswatini's finance minister admitted he learned of the deal only after it was signed, raising questions about transparency and constitutionality. South Africa has raised border security concerns, while the US has offered no details beyond calling it a Trump-era deportation policy.
