Egypt is intensifying its diplomatic push to end Sudan’s devastating war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty met Sudan’s army chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan in Port Sudan, reaffirming Cairo’s support for Sudan’s unity and stability. Talks focused on securing a peace deal, opening humanitarian aid corridors, and boosting bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, and reconstruction. UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher also met Burhan to ensure aid delivery across conflict zones. As violence worsens in Darfur and Kordofan, Egypt’s peace initiative underscores regional efforts to stabilise Sudan and ease its humanitarian crisis.
