The Nigerian military has said that it killed over 50 terrorists, reportedly belonging to Boko Haram's splinter Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), after the terrorists launched coordinated drone attacks on multiple army bases in the volatile Northeast region. Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, has been battling the Boko Haram and its splinter, ISWAP, for over 15 years. These groups seek to establish a caliphate in the Northeast. The conflict has killed more than 35,000 and displaced around two million people so far. The increasing use of drone technology by terrorist groups in West Africa, often commercial models modified for offensive use, has further worsened the security situation.
