Malian TikTok influencer, Mariam Cissé, was publicly executed in the town of Tonka, marking another grim chapter in Mali’s escalating security crisis. Cissé, known for her videos supporting the army, was abducted and shot in front of a crowd. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack, but she was killed in the town where the al-Qaida-linked JNIM group is known to patrol. Prime Minister Abdoulaye Maïga condemned the attack. The killing comes amid rising insecurity, a surge in kidnappings, and growing violence across Mali. As the African Union urges international coordination, Maïga accused France and Algeria of backing terror groups, rejecting predictions that the country’s military regime could soon collapse.
