Madagascar's new military leader, Michael Randrianirina’s prime ministerial choice, has failed to get the approval of Gen Z protesters. Madagascar's Gen Z protest movement expressed concern over Herintsalama Rajaonarivelo’s appointment as the Prime Minister and said that the decision was made without consultation. The Gen Z Mada movement argued that Rajaonarivelo’s appointment was contrary to the spirit of change and renewal. The youth leaders have vowed to continue mobilising and claimed that they would not allow old practices to be passed off as something new. This came after Randrianirina appointed the former chairman of the Malagasy bank BNI as the country's premier on October 20. Randrianirina himself took the oath as the President of Madagascar last week, after youth-led protests led to the ouster of former President Andry Rajoelina.
