Kenya: Stampede Breaks Out at Raila Odinga's State Funeral, Ruto Pays Tribute | Firstpost Africa

Chaos erupted in Kenya as a stampede broke out during the state funeral of the country’s former Prime Minister and opposition leader, Raila Odinga. Dozens were left injured after chaos gripped the stadium in Nairobi after dozens rushed to pay their last respect to the deceased leader. Kenyan Prime Minister William Ruto paid tribute to Odinga at the state funeral. It was not just the funeral that saw mayhem; the stadium where Odinga's mortal remains were on public viewing also turned into scenes of chaos. Security forces at the stadium fired warning shots and tear gas as people rushed through the stadium gate. The incident killed at least three people. Odinga died of a cardiac arrest at the age of 80 in southern India on October 15.
