At least 26 people have died in devastating landslides and flash floods in Kenya’s Rift Valley, following days of heavy rainfall. The disaster in the Marakwet East region destroyed more than 1,000 homes, uprooted trees, and cut off access to affected communities. Rescue operations are underway as authorities search for dozens still missing. The Kenya Red Cross has warned that the area remains highly susceptible to further landslides, urging residents to move to safer ground. Officials, including Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, have pledged government support for displaced families amid growing concerns over climate change and extreme weather in East Africa.
