India and Morocco are strengthening their defence and trade ties. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is on a two-day visit to Morocco, marking the first-ever visit by an Indian defence minister to the North African nation. He is set to inaugurate India’s first overseas defence manufacturing facility in Casablanca, built by Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) in partnership with Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces. The plant will assemble the Wheeled Armoured Platform (WhAP 8x8), an amphibious infantry combat vehicle. Bilateral trade has also grown from $1.2 billion in 2015 to $4.2 billion in 2023, covering fertilizers, phosphates, electrical products, car components, steel, and tyres.
