Cameroon is facing post-election tensions after 92-year-old President Paul Biya was declared the provisional winner of the October 12 presidential vote. According to the National Vote-Counting Commission, Biya secured over 53% of the votes, ahead of main rival Issa Tchiroma Bakary at 35%. If confirmed, this would mark Biya’s eighth term, extending his 42-year rule and making him one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.
