Somalia’s security forces successfully brought an end to a violent six-hour standoff at a high-security detention center in Mogadishu after Al-Shabaab terrorists attempted a breakout. The militants, linked to al-Qaeda, launched their assault on the Godka Jilicow prison using explosives and heavy gunfire in an effort to free inmates. Authorities confirmed that all seven attackers were killed and no prisoners managed to escape.
