Sheena Bora murder case: Indrani Mukerjea admitted to JJ Hospital again

MUMBAI: Indrani Mukerjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, was admitted yet again to the government-run JJ Hospital Wednesday afternoon. She had been admitted to the hospital on October 2 after she collapsed in the prison and discharged a couple of days later. Hospital Dean Dr T P Lahane said Indrani was brought to the hospital from Byculla women’s prison this afternoon. Earlier in the day, the prison authorities informed a magistrate’s court here that Indrani was suspected to have dengue. “We have informed the court that Indrani is suffering from suspected dengue and her platelet count has gone down to 65,000,” a jail official said. Magistrate R V Adone had directed the prison authorities to produce Indrani in view of the application made by CBI seeking her voice samples. Indrani, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamvar Rai are in judicial custody. The three are accused of killing Mukerjea’s 24-year-old daughter Sheena and disposing the body in a forest in April 2012. On October 2, Indrani was taken to J J Hospital from Byculla womens’ prison in an unconscious state, fuelling speculation that she had overdosed on anti-depressant drugs. But the probe by Inspector General (prisons) ruled out the possibility of drug overdose, poisoning or suicide bid, and concluded that she had collapsed because of weakness. The CBI is currently probing the Sheena Bora murder case. PTI
