Dadri: Akhlaq's brother says family will not leave the village

[caption id=“attachment_2451046” align=“alignleft” width=“380”]  Mohammad Akhlaq’s family members/ PTI[/caption] The family of Mohammed Akhlaq, the man who was clubbed to death on September 28 over rumours of eating and storing beef, has no plans to permanently shift from Bisara where it has lived for five generations, Akhlaq’s brother said today as the village held on to fragile peace, reports PTI and The Indian Express. Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav jumped into the soundbite factory surrounding this horrific lynching. He claims the killing of Akhlaq was the result of “conspiracy” hatched by “three persons of a specific party”. Read the full story from The Indian Express here. “As you can see, our family members have not shifted anywhere and do not intend to do so either. We are very much in Bisara,” Jamil, Akhlaq’s elder brother, told PTI near Dadri in Uttar Pradesh, about 60 km from the national capital. He, however, said the family may decide to move out for 2-4 months, if required. Jamil said members of the family, specially Akhlaq’s duaghter and mother were finding it difficult to lead a normal life after the night of September 28. “She (Akhlaq’s mother) is not in a condition to speak any more. What can a person say when her son has been beaten to death before her eyes,” he said. Jamil said they will never leave Bisara permanently where 5 generations of his family have lived and died. Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate Nagendra Prasad Singh said the family has been provided round-the-clock police protection.
