Why Ghana & other African Nations are turning to Nuclear Power

Ghana is inviting companies to bid for the right to construct its first nuclear power plant. The US, France, Russia, China and South Korea are all in the race to partner with Ghana. Ghana is the latest African country to turn to nuclear power to try and meet demand. The continent is home to 600 million people who lack access to electricity. Nuclear energy is more efficient that traditional fossil fuel power generation and renewable energy. And African nations need to ramp up their power production fast, to cater to their growing populations. So the African countries are turning to nuclear-capable countries, especially Russia with its state-firm Rosatom, to help them build nuclear power plants.
