Taiwan has launched a new air defence system, "T-Dome" which is designed to integrate all its missile and radar systems against Chinese attacks. The announcement came on Taiwan’s National Day with President Lai Ching-te pledging to resolve all the layers of defence and effective interception.
China responded sharply, warning this move could “push Taiwan into a dangerous situation.” Beijing condemned the U.S.-Taiwan military relationship, and urged Washington to formally oppose Taiwan independence — a major diplomatic escalation. At the same time, China has been conducting drills simulating attacks and blockades on Taiwan.
The T-Dome could be a game changer in Taiwan’s defence strategy — but it also adds a new flashpoint to the already volatile U.S.-China-Taiwan triangle.
