As the Russia-Ukraine war rages on, the Kremlin has dismissed reports of North Korean soldiers fighting for Russia in Ukraine. Recently, South Korea's Defence Minister Kim Yong-hyun said that "there was a high possibility" North Korea could deploy troops to help Russia in the war with Ukraine. However, the Kremlin has rejected Seoul's claims as "fake". South Korean Defence Minister Kim also told a parliamentary hearing that news reports of North Korean military officers having been killed in a Ukrainian strike on territory controlled by Russian forces were likely true. In recent years, nuclear-armed Pyongyang has bolstered its military ties with Moscow.
