A proposed deal between American investment giant BlackRock and Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), the country's biggest airport operator, is facing roadblocks due to BlackRock's ties to arms manufacturers supplying weapons to Israel. The $2.6 billion deal involves BlackRock, as part of a consortium, acquiring ownership of MAHB. However, Malaysian civil society groups have launched a protest campaign urging the government to block the deal due to BlackRock's holdings. The campaign has gained momentum, with protestors targeting not just weapons manufacturers but also their financiers.
