LIVE: India China Border Standoff: Both Sides Close to a Solution? | Vantage with Palki Sharma
India and China appear to be moving toward rapprochement. Earlier today, India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed to collaborate on improving bilateral relations during their meeting in Russia. Both leaders reviewed the progress made in recent consultations regarding border issues along the Line of Actual Control. Even India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, in a separate event, noted that about 75% of the "disengagement issues" with China have been resolved. However, he pointed out that the growing militarisation of the border remains the "bigger issue". The relationship between the two neighbours, who share a largely undefined Himalayan border, has been strained since a 2020 military clash that resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian and four Chinese soldiers. However, a shift is underway. New Delhi has started approving Chinese investment proposals, and India and China are looking to resume direct flights after a four-year hiatus. But what about the ongoing border standoff? How much progress has been made on that front? Palki Sharma tells you.
