Anti-government protests continue to escalate in Kenyan capital Nairobi. On Tuesday, Kenyan police clashed with protesters in Nairobi and fired tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. The youth-led protests against alleged corruption and misgovernance have been going on since mid-June, resulting in at least 50 fatalities so far. The protesters want President William Ruto to step down. Despite President Ruto withdrawing the controversial $2.7 billion finance bill in June, protests demanding economic reform have not subsided. In a major shakeup, he fired most of his cabinet at that time, while retaining some members from the previous administration. This week, President Ruto announced further changes by swapping the defense and environment ministers.
