Dozens of boats departed from Spain as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying humanitarian aid, international activists, and several European parliamentarians, including climate campaigner Greta Thunberg. The flotilla aimed to challenge Israel’s 18-year blockade of Gaza but was intercepted by Israeli naval forces about 70 nautical miles off the coast. Israeli authorities described the interception as a "safe and controlled operation."
