India Secures the Sittwe Port in Myanmar: Why it Matters

India has secured its second oversees port, the Sittwe port in Myanmar. An Indian company will now run the operations of the port. This, as a civil war between the Myanmar military junta and rebels intensifies in the country. New Delhi and Burma had signed the Sittwe port agreement in 2008, and it took 15 years for the project to come into effect. Throughout, India has passed through many hurdles to make this deal come through. But to unlock the full potential of this port - India needs to do more. Palki Sharma tells you more.
