A sudden blizzard near Mount Everest’s eastern slopes in Tibet trapped at least 1,000 trekkers. With high winds, snowstorms and heavy rain, the trekkers tried to escape the situation at above 4,900 metres. Rescue workers reached the site rescuing more than 350 trekkers. Further trekking was suspended following the incident. Search operations are ongoing.
