Caretakers working in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone have reported dogs with blue fur roaming near the site of the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster. According to the researchers, the sudden change in fur colour, observed within just a week, has been linked to possible exposure to unidentified chemical compounds such as industrial waste or metals. Scientists are analysing fur, skin and blood samples to determine the cause.
