Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Beijing during a rare foreign visit by Kim. This is Kim’s second trip abroad in six years and his first visit to China since 2019. The talks came after a military parade marking 80 years since the end of World War II, attended by Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Beijing is Pyongyang’s most important ally as North Korea remains under crippling international sanctions.
