China Unveils its New Deep-Sea Weapon, a Cable Cutter | Vantage with Palki Sharma | N18G
China has for the first time unveiled a deep-sea cable cutter weapon. China is now the first country in the world to publicly disclose that it possesses such a tool. Developed by the China Ship Research Centre, this deep-sea weapon can operate at depths of almost 4,000 metres, even though most undersea cables are at around 2,000 metres. China has repeatedly been accused of cutting internet and communication undersea cables around Taiwan. Chinese ships have also been accused of severing undersea cables in the Baltic Sea, cutting cables between Germany and Finland and Sweden and Lithuania. Palki Sharma tells you more.
