Punch, a seven-month-old macaque named Punch, was struggling to find his place. Abandoned by his mother and unable to bond with the other monkeys at Ichikawa City Zoo near Tokyo, he had no real companions. His only comfort came from the zookeepers who care for him and a stuffed toy from Ikea. The plush toy became his constant companion. He clutched it while resting, carried it around the enclosure, and even groomed it. The zoo shared a series of posts about his situation — along with the hashtag #HangInTherePunch — his story captured hearts online, turning the lonely young monkey into an unexpected internet sensation.
