A new global survey reveals that companies are increasingly choosing artificial intelligence over new hires, with 41% of business leaders saying AI is already reducing headcount. Two-fifths report junior roles have been cut, and a quarter believe most entry-level tasks could soon be automated. Over 180,000 tech jobs have been reportedly lost globally in 2025, while US entry-level postings fell 15% last year. Employment among 22- to 25-year-olds in AI-exposed roles has reportedly dropped 13% since 2022. As major firms invest heavily in AI infrastructure, fewer entry-level roles are available, threatening skill development and making it harder for Gen Z to begin careers.
