Muhammad Yunus is under growing criticism for downplaying reports of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. Following the removal of Sheikh Hasina’s government, Hindu organizations have reported more than two thousand incidents of attacks, including arson, looting of temples, and community intimidation. Yunus has brushed off these incidents as ordinary neighborhood disputes and accused India of spreading false information. He also suggested that Hindus should see themselves as Bangladeshi citizens rather than emphasizing their religion. This has raised serious concerns about whether Bangladesh’s Hindu population can ever feel fully protected amid such denial of their suffering.
