The British royal family often talks about change. From King Charles to Prince William, every generation promises to make the monarchy more modern with smaller teams, simpler traditions, and greater public connection. Yet the palaces remain opulent, the royal balcony is still crowded, and the expense to taxpayers stays high. Prince William has now said he hopes to bring change when he becomes king, but many wonder if this means real reform or just a new image. Britain continues to spend nearly 700 million dollars each year on the monarchy, an institution built on legacy rather than democracy. The question that remains is whether the monarchy can truly evolve or if genuine change means bringing it to an end.
