Vladimir Putin has introduced the Burevestnik, known to NATO as Skyfall, a nuclear-powered cruise missile capable of flying for nearly fifteen hours and covering close to nine thousand miles. The missile is driven by a compact nuclear reactor that gives it an almost unlimited range and the ability to slip past any defense network, including America’s Golden Dome. However, scientists have expressed grave concern, calling it a moving source of radioactive pollution that could contaminate the atmosphere wherever it travels. The missile test follows the breakdown of recent talks between Putin and Trump, fueling tensions and fears of a new global arms race. In this report, Palki Sharma examines what makes the Burevestnik one of the most alarming weapons yet and why it poses a serious threat to global stability.
