India clinched its first ever Women’s Cricket World Cup title, overcoming South Africa by 52 runs in Navi Mumbai and ending a 47-year wait for the trophy. This landmark victory is a major milestone for women’s sports in a country traditionally focused on men’s cricket. Star player Shafali Verma shone with 87 runs and two wickets, while Deepti Sharma contributed 58 runs and five wickets. This win followed a remarkable semi-final victory against Australia. The International Cricket Council increased the total prize money to a record 14 million dollars, with India taking home over 4 million dollars. Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the win, calling it a historic achievement.
