The US Air Force’s 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, famously known as the Hurricane Hunters, had to call off their mission after facing intense turbulence inside Hurricane Melissa. The aircraft experienced powerful air currents while entering the storm’s eye, forcing the crew to return to their base in Curacao for safety checks before resuming operations.
