Rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have erupted into one of the most deadly military confrontations since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021. Reports from both sides indicate significant losses, Pakistan claims morey than two hundred Taliban fighters were killed, while the Taliban asserts that it eliminated fifty eight Pakistani troops and seized several border posts. These numbers remain unconfirmed, but the intensity of the conflict is clear. The violence unfolded as Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi made a visit to India. Kabul accused Pakistan of launching air raids, an allegation Pakistan rejected while carrying out its own strikes. During his stay in New Delhi, Muttaqi expressed support for India’s positions on issues like terrorism and Kashmir, sparking a wave of anger and demonstrations in Islamabad.
