Parliament Session Live: PM Modi expected to address Motion of Thanks debate tomorrow evening

Home Minister Amit Shah requested Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to ask LoP Rahul Gandhi to verify claims made during his speech. Shah intervened in the debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha following Gandhi’s remark regarding the BJP not being Hindu. Shah insisted that Gandhi apologise not only to the House but also to the nation.

“He explicitly stated that those who identify as Hindus are involved in violence. Millions of people in our country proudly identify as Hindus. Are they all advocating violence? Associating violence with any religion, especially by someone in a constitutional position… I believe he should apologise,” the Home Minister said.

On Rahul Gandhi’s ‘violent-Hindu’ speech in Lok Sabha, BJP National president JP Nadda posted a series of tweets mentioned below:

“First day, worst show! Lies + Hindu hatred = Rahul Gandhi Ji in Parliament. Third Time Fail LoP has a knack for agitated, flawed logic. His speech today has shown that neither has he understood the mandate of 2024 (his third successive loss) nor does he have any humility.”

“Rahul Gandhi Ji must immediately APOLOGISE to all Hindus for terming them as violent. This is the same person who was telling foreign diplomats that Hindus are terrorists. This intrinsic hate towards Hindus must stop.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rajeev Shukla, and Raghav Chadha show support for Rahul Gandhi’s statement on BJP & Hindus.

“My brother will never insult the Hindus and he clearly spoke about the BJP and its leaders,” says Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Hindu’ remark in Parliament.

Congress MP Rajeev Shukla stated that Rahul Gandhi’s statement wasn’t against Hindus. Instead, he pointed out that while BJP leaders claim to be Hindus, their actions don’t reflect Hinduism’s principles.

AAP MP Raghav Chadha mentioned that he wasn’t present in the Lok Sabha when Rahul Gandhi spoke, but he’s aware that Gandhi’s speech has received a lot of attention and positive feedback.

“When I came to shake your hand, I noticed something. When I stood up to shake hands, you stood up straight, but when you shook hands with PM Modi, you bowed,” Rahul Gandhi said, addressing Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.

The Speaker responded to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks by saying that the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) must understand that the “Prime Minister is the leader of the House and as per my position and my culture and tradition, I respect somebody who is senior to me (by age). I have been told to respect anybody, who is older than me and that’s what I did.”

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition (LoP), triggered a row in the Lok Sabha on Monday with his remark targeting the BJP, saying “those who call themselves Hindus only talk about violence, hatred and lies.” Gandhi’s comments forced Prime Minister Narendra Modi to interrupt and seeking apology and saying, “calling the entire Hindu community violent is very serious.”

During the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha, Kharge stated that the President’s speech “ignored” the country’s difficulties and attempted to conceal the government’s failure.

He stated that the President’s message included no mention of the poor, Dalits, or minorities.

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he stated that opposition parties discuss the hardship of the ordinary man, but Modiji only talks about ‘Mann Ki Baat’.

The Congress president further chastised the prime minister for failing to visit Manipur, which has been burning for the last year, and claimed he is only an expert in delivering slogans.

Kharge also raised the issue of alleged NEET irregularities and the airport roof collapse incident

Amit Shah praises new criminal legislation, claiming it would become the world’s greatest judicial system.

The three new criminal statutes address substantive offence, procedure, and evidence. These statutes seek to digitise several areas of criminal proceedings.

Under the provisions of these three new Acts, every stage of a criminal investigation, from the first registration of a First Information Report (FIR) to the final delivery of judgement, will be digitally documented.

As Kharge took the floor to react to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, Nadda interrupted to declare he was bringing severe charges against Chairperson Jagdeep Dhankar.

Nadda later asked that Kharge’s comments against the RSS be removed.

Speaker of Lok Sabha Om Birla chose a committee of chairpersons on Monday to help him preside over House sessions. Birla named Araja, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Avdhesh Prasad, PC Mohan, Sandhya Rai, Dilip Saikia, Jagdambika Pal, and A Raja.

When the Speaker is not in the chair, the chairpersons supervise the House’s activities. They get full access to the Speaker’s authority.

The first FIR under the new criminal code was registered in New Delhi on Monday, the same day it came into force. The complaint under Section 173 of the new Bharatiya Nagarik Sanhita (BNS) was filed against a street vendor for obstructing a road near the New Delhi Railway Station.
