YouTube turns 8: More than 100 hours of videos uploaded per minute

YouTube has turned eight and according to a blog post by the site, more than 100 hours of video are being uploaded to the website per minute. In a blogpost, The YouTube Team wrote, Today, more than 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. That’s more than four days of video uploaded each minute! Every month, more than 1 billion people come to YouTube to access news, answer questions and have a little fun. That’s almost one out of every two people on the Internet. Reuters](https://images.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/YouTube_Reuters1.jpg) Its been eight years of YouTube. Reuters[/caption] Millions of partners are creating content for YouTube and more than 1,000 companies worldwide have mandated a one-hour mid-day break to watch nothing but funny YouTube videos. Well, we made that last stat up, but that would be cool (the other stats are true). YouTube was founded in February 2005 by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim, all early employees of PayPal. YouTube offered the public a beta test of the site in May 2005, six months before the official launch in November 2005. Google bought YouTube for, $1.65 billion, in November 2006. The site recently launched paid subscriptions for some video channels as it looks for more sources of revenue. The service is currently available for 30 content creators. In March, the site had hit 1 billion unique users a month. Below is the first video uploaded to the website:
