. Just after she tweeted how excited she is to start a new role at Yahoo, she tweeted another piece of good news. “Another piece of good news today - @zackbogue and I are expecting a new baby boy.” Mayer told Fortune
that it’s a baby boy. However, Mayer’s pregnancy was not an issue for Yahoo when selecting her for the top job. Yahoo said it did not consider or even discuss the fact that she had informed them — as part of the process — that she is currently pregnant, reported

Marissa Mayer, Yahoo’s new CEO. AP[/caption] Mayer’s husband Zachary Bogue is a lawyer who traded practicing law to invest in big-data startups. Bogue recently launched an investment fund called Data Collective. Mayer, 37, has a degree in symbolic systems and a MS degree in computer science from Stanford University, specialising in artificial intelligence. She has also received an honorary doctorate of engineering. She started her career in Google in 1999 as its first female engineer and the company’s 20th employee. Most recently, she was responsible for Google’s mapping product and location services, Google Local, Street View and a slew of other products. She also helped create Google’s flagship search service and the well-known white-background home page that the company is still known for. She starts her new job in Yahoo on Tuesday.
