Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) encountered a widespread outage on Thursday, starting at around 10:41 AM. This incident adds to a string of major outages this year as well as in 2023, affecting the functionality of the widely-used microblogging service. According to certain reports, about 400 people in India reported that they were unable to access X’s services.
During the downtime, X ceased to function entirely, rendering users unable to post tweets or access pages. Users faced this issue across platforms, that is apps as well as browsers
According to Downdetector, approximately 469 users across India reported issues with X at the time of writing.
The outage tracker’s Live Outage map revealed user complaints from various cities in India, including Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Cuttack, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, among others.
The last significant outage experienced by X occurred in December 2023, affecting users worldwide. Although X did not provide an official explanation for the downtime, services were restored within a few hours.
Given past occurrences, it’s reasonable to anticipate that X may resume normal operations soon.
Notably, X’s competitor Meta encountered an outage last month when Instagram experienced disruptions globally. During that incident, users turned to X to express their frustration through humorous memes, with Elon Musk himself chiming in with a witty tweet.
