Hi, I am Nandini, Tech2’s resident Internetwaali, and today we are going to put some light on the new features Instagram has rolled out, and their similarity to … Snapchat! First up, the new video calling feature. So, in your DM’s you can now see this new video icon on top right. It’s not just a one-to-one chat, but a four-way one, basically chaar log ek baar mein baat kar sakte hain. The connectivity pretty much rests on how good your internet connection is. I have tried the feature a bunch of times, on both Wi-Fi and cellular. Wouldn’t say it’s the best, but it’s pretty decent. Similarity to Snapchat? This exact feature! Snapchat released video calling last year, and added group calling for up to 16 people at a time in April this year. BTW, on Instagram, you can also minimize the window so that the video chat appears like picture-in-picture display and continue to scroll through your feed. *coughs* ditto on Snapchat Number 2, is the Explore tab. This page now looks different, because it has now been categorized into these tiny little tabs up here, and the associated content to the category you choose, is shown down below here. So you see the For You tab by default, then there are other suggestions based on what you interact with the most, for me there is Animals, Humor… etc. You can also mute any channel you want. Just tap and hit on remove Art. Finally, there are some camera effects that have been designed by Insta partners, like Ariana Grande, Liza Koshy, and the NBA. If you follow their accounts, you will see the face filter on Stories camera, there you can hit Try It On. Yup, that’s it. Here’s your Instagram Ranger signing off.
