Tesla has officially opened its first charging station in Gurugram, furthering its goal of establishing a comprehensive network to support electric mobility in India. The facility, located at DLF Horizon Centre, marks a significant step in Tesla’s strategy to provide convenient charging solutions that promote sustainability and enhance the ownership experience for Indian customers.
According to a company statement released on Wednesday, the new site reflects Tesla’s long-term vision of building an infrastructure that encourages the adoption of electric vehicles. The company emphasised that true progress in sustainable transport depends not only on cars themselves but also on the supporting ecosystem of efficient charging networks.
Focus on expanding charging ecosystem
Sharad Agarwal, General Manager of Tesla India, said that Tesla’s mission revolves around accelerating the global transition to a cleaner and more sustainable future. “It is not just about electric cars, but about creating an ecosystem that supports their growth,” he explained. The company, he added, seeks to integrate charging facilities within the lifestyle of its customers to ensure maximum accessibility and convenience.
Features of the new facility
The charging site at Horizon Centre is equipped with advanced technology to serve a wide range of needs. It includes four V4 Superchargers capable of delivering peak charging speeds of up to 250 kilowatts, enabling quick recharges for Tesla owners on the go. Alongside these are three destination chargers with a capacity of 11 kilowatts each, intended for longer parking durations such as during office hours or leisure visits.
Tesla stated that the latest Superchargers can provide a Model Y vehicle with up to 275 kilometres of range in just 15 minutes, significantly reducing downtime for drivers while maximising convenience. The company described this as part of its broader goal to transform the perception of electric vehicle ownership from a challenge into a seamless experience.
