Stuffcool Click Trio and Tempt Joos Mag Mini 10 Review: Multi-utility powerbanks with wireless charging

Saying there is a wide variety of powerbanks and wireless charging solutions in the market is an understatement. We have already covered a handful of them in the past, and a couple from Stuffcool too. But again, they have come up with something interesting that caught our eye, and not just them this time. Not long ago, powerbanks were meant to provide some extra battery backup on the go for products like smartphones, tablets and wireless earphones. Then they were expected to do so at a much faster speed; yes, fast charging.

We already reviewed a couple of powerbanks from the Stuffcool Mega series that could fast charge two devices simultaneously. Today, we will look at solutions that can not just charge two devices at a go but can juice some of them wirelessly too. Yes, a truly wireless charging solution with no strings (power cables) attached, in a way. And then there’s one from Tempt that promises to charge four different devices at a go. Sounds interesting? Read on to know more about the Stuffcool Click Trio and Tempt Joos Mag Mini 10 wireless powerbanks.

Stuffcool Click Trio 10000 mAh Magnetic Wireless Powerbank Review

Price: Rs 2,699

The Stuffcool Click Trio is an elegant looking powerbank with a glossy off-white finish and a champagne gold metal strip along the edge, which is actually a stand that lets you keep this device in a vertical orientation.

The attached metal stand is a handy addition

It is a very smart addition as it also serves as a stand for your smartphone when you are charging it wirelessly. Think of a situation where you are watching a match/video or in the middle of a video call and your phone battery is about to go flat. You can simply attach the phone magnetically to the charging pad, pull out the stand, leave them on a desk and continue your task handsfree and comfortably.

Speaking of wireless charging, the Click Trio supports popular Apple products like the iPhone, Airpods Pro and Apple Watch.

The wireless charging pad also works with Apple Watch

Charging speed is limited to 7.5W for iPhones, while certain Samsung and Pixel phones can make full use of its 15W wireless charging speed. If you wish to charge your phones faster, plug in the attached USB-C cable to get 20W output that can do the job a lot quicker. If you have an older iPhone prior to 15 with a Lightning port, worry not, you get a USB-C port on this Stuffcool powerbank in which you can plug in a USB-C to Lightning cable (needs to be purchased separately) to charge it at 20W.

The same USB-C port can be used to charge this powerbank.

A USB-C charging port and an attached cable are located along the top edge

It supports 18W charging speed and takes about 3 hours to charge its 10,000 mAh battery fully.

Charge indicator LEDs are present at the top left side of the powerbank

One thing to note is there is no USB-A port on this device. In case you have a charging dock of a fitness watch with a non-detachable USB-A cable, it cannot be used with this powerbank unless you have a converter. Stuffcool does not bundle any spare USB cable with the Click Trio; at least our review unit didn’t have one.

As for its performance, the wired charging is very much at par with any good 20W USB-PD charger. It managed to charge 50% of the Apple iPhone 14 Pro in 30 minutes which is comparable to the speed of a Stuffcool 20W USB-PD wall charger. Wireless charging speed is exactly half of that wherein it can replenish 25% of the battery in half an hour. It barely gets warm in that much time. Not just Apple products, but the Stuffcool Click Trio can be used to charge almost anything that supports wireless charging.

A couple of points to note - just because the powerbank has a rated battery capacity of 10,000 mAh, don’t expect it to charge a 5,000 mAh battery fully twice. It doesn’t work that way for any powerbank. A certain amount of charge is lost in conversion, and more so in fast charging that happens at higher voltage. While the Click Trio doesn’t have a display like the Stuffcool Mega 40 or the Tempt Joos Mag Mini 10 that we will talk about shortly, you do get five tiny LEDs on the side to give you a rough estimate of the remaining charge and the charging status.

All said and done, the Stuffcool Click Trio is a quality 10,000 mAh powerbank that can fast charge a USB-PD compliant device or wirelessly charge a variety of devices or both. Did I mention it is fairly sleek too? It is 18.5 mm thick and weighs 210 grams which is not bad at all for a 10K powerbank.

The powerbank sports a classy and compact design

It can be purchased for Rs 2,699 with a 6-months warranty, and that’s a reasonable ask for a multi-utility powerbank with a decent capacity that gives you a choice of fast charging as well as wireless charging on the go.

Tempt Joos Mag Mini 10 Magnetic Wireless Powerbank Review

Power button and charging

Price: Rs 2,499We have reviewed powerbanks that can charge two or even three devices at a go. How about four? Say hello to the Tempt Joos Mag Mini 10 which is quite unique in more ways than one, starting with its design. This 10,000 mAh powerbank looks quite cool and resembles an old polaroid camera.

The design resembles a good old Polaroid camera

The area where you would typically have the camera lens has a round LED display to give you an idea about the remaining charge and a ring light around it. Ironically, the supposed flash is just ornamental and doesn’t light up even when charging the powerbank.

The Tempt Joos Mag Mini 10, though not as slim as the Click Trio, is much shorter and feels a lot more compact. Its weight is in the same ballpark - a little over 200 grams. It supports up to 15W MagSafe wireless charging as well as 22.5W USB-PD fast wired charging. Wired charging is not just supported through its USB-C port but also through the attached flat cables. You get a USB-C cable as well as an attached Lightning cable to charge your older iPhone. The attached USB-C cable smartly transforms into a lanyard cable when not in use.

Integrated USB-C and Lightning cables

You can use all the aforementioned outputs to charge four devices simultaneously. However, just like the Click Trio, there is no USB-A port on the Joos Mag Mini 10 either. Wireless charging is not just limited to iPhones but also other Apple devices as well as all Qi-enabled devices. While everything seems fine and dandy, the device does have its share of bugs - at least our review unit did. For starters, the charge indicator display isn’t fully reliable. At times, it just gets stuck at a number while charging a device, giving you a false impression of the juice left in the tank.

Secondly, the attached Lightning cable can only do 12W max. The USB-C port output with an external cable is a lot closer to a proper 20W fast charger with noticeably faster charging speed. In terms of numbers, the attached Lightning cable could charge the Apple iPhone 14 Pro 28% in 30 minutes, while the USB-C port could manage 45% in the same time. A little slower than the Stuffcool but acceptable, and it doesn’t heat up either. Interestingly, the wireless charging speed is almost the same as the attached Lightning cable and marginally better than the Click Trio at 28%.

The USB-C port can also be used to charge this powerbank at 18W, and this too takes a little under 3 hours to go from empty to full. The efficiency of both powerbanks (actual usable electrical charge) is around the 65% mark - acceptable but nothing special. Above 75% is where they need to be ideally. While we use powerbanks to charge phones fully during our testing for computational purposes, that is not how they are meant to be used.

Many forget that a powerbank is a backup charging option and not the primary charger itself. Though it can charge and fast charge devices, it is only meant to be used if your device’s battery is running low and a power outlet is not immediately accessible. Even in such a scenario, don’t look to charge it to full capacity, but just enough so that it lasts till you have access to a charging point. Every powerbank battery, however good, has limited charging cycles, and its charge holding capacity starts to deplete the more it is used. Use it wisely.

The built-in cables can be neatly tucked in at the side of the device

The Tempt Joos Mag Mini 10 is priced at Rs 2,499 with six months warranty. Despite a few minor bugs, it is a highly versatile powerbank that actually lets you charge four devices at a go, though not too fast. Its cool design that some may call cute, the attached cables and the display are handy bonuses. For its high utilitarian value, it is a good option under Rs 2,500 if true fast charging is not the top priority.
