After HTC’s accelerator program for VR startups, Ericsson has announced an IoT Accelerator at the Hannover Messe trade fair. It will be available to customers globally at the end of Q3. The Accelerator claims to serve as a service for all those looking at ways to combat barriers like cost and solutions to develop IoT solutions. So, it aims at combining IoT platforms with Ericsson’s services and a marketplace that allows customers from various sectors such as public safety, transport, etc to connect with partners and monetise. Ericsson also says that IoT Accelerator customers with be given regional business labs helping them execute global capabilities locally. According to the press release issued by the company, IoT platforms’ capabilities will include data management, billing, device management,connectivity services and analytics. Moreover, planned expansion modules such as self-service portal, developer environment and software development kit will also be included. It will also reap benefits of the Ericsson Cloud System that will support hybrid cloud deployments and meet requirements related to data and security. “All main connectivity standards are supported, and the Accelerator will leverage Ericsson’s Cellular for Massive IoT software solutions, including support for NB-IoT, LTE Cat-M1 and EC-GSM-IoT technologies for low power wide area applications,” claims Ericsson. Orvar Hurtig, Head of Industry & Society at Ericsson, says, “We believe in empowering organisations to connect people, devices and things as quickly and easily as possible. We will initially focus on public safety, utilities, transport and smart cities customers, continuously adjusting to their needs and feedback, and improving ease of use and delivery speed through a DevOps approach to software development. We deliver these capabilities to our customers via the IoT Accelerator.”
