Sony Mobile today launched a new smartphone as part of its Xperia series, the Xperia ZR. The highlight of the device seems to be its level of water-resistance, which allows photography and Full HD videos underwater. Key features of the smartphone are: • 4.6-inch HD Reality display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The smartphone’s display panel is OptiContrast one which reduces reflections and provides clearer viewing, even in bright sunlight. • 13 megapixel rear camera. The waterproof phone is IP55 and IP58 compliant,and it can be submerged in 1.5 meters or 4.9 feet of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. It has a dedicated camera key with the waterproof capabilities which lets users shoot videos in Full HD or snap pictures underwater. The front camera is VGA.The device is also dust-resistant. It has 8GB storage space and a microSD slot with 32GB as the limit. • The device supports 4G LTE, WiFi, and Bluetooth. Xperia ZR will be available in black, white, pink and mint and will be launched worldwide from Q2 2013.
