Samsung is planning to turn things up a bit with the launch of their Galaxy Z series this year, particularly with the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

To begin with, Samsung will unveil at least two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 this year, with a recent leak revealing the model number of the “Ultra” variant.

Before this, rumours were strife that Samsung would also launch a budget-oriented version of the Galaxy Z Fold. For months, speculation has swirled about two iterations of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, one being more affordable with specific strategic tweaks.

Additionally, reports suggest that Samsung is developing an “Ultra” style foldable to complement the more budget-friendly version.

According to a recent report from GalaxyClub, the model number for the new Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be “SM-F958.”

In previous launches, Samsung has typically concluded the model number for flagship-series devices with the number “6.” For example, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is labelled as SM-F946, while the Fold 4 is SM-F936. Therefore, it would be logical for Fold 6 to have the model number SM-F956.

But why the addition of “8”?

In recent years, Samsung has used this number to signify “Ultra” models. For instance, the Galaxy S24 Ultra carries the model number SM-S928, while the S24+ is designated as SM-S926. This suggests that Samsung is indeed working on an “Ultra” variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Notably, the model number has thus far only appeared with the suffix “N,” indicating a South Korea launch. While there’s no sign of the same model number for other regions yet, this is likely not a cause for concern. Additionally, the SM-F956 model number expected for the “cheaper” model is also absent at this point.
