Samsung likely to launch Galaxy AI features on budget phones, will have limited functionality

Samsung’s Galaxy AI features, initially exclusive to its flagship Galaxy S24 series, are gradually being made available on more devices. After extending these features to the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip5 models, Samsung is now preparing to bring Galaxy AI to its popular mid-range Galaxy A series smartphones.

According to a report by SamMobile, the upcoming One UI 6.1.1 update will introduce Galaxy AI to the Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 smartphones. This marks the first time Samsung’s advanced AI capabilities will be accessible on its mid-tier devices. Samsung’s Galaxy AI operates with a hybrid approach, where basic AI tasks are processed directly on the device, while more complex processes require cloud-backed assistance for quicker execution.

An upgraded version of Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant, is also expected to be part of this rollout, offering users an enhanced AI experience.

With a starting price of Rs 23,775 on Amazon, the Galaxy A35 is set to become the most affordable smartphone to feature Galaxy AI, making advanced AI technology accessible to a broader audience. Until now, the least expensive device to include these features was the Galaxy S23 FE, priced at Rs 34,399.

However, it’s important to note that the Galaxy A35 and A55 won’t have access to the full suite of Galaxy AI features. Currently, there’s no information on whether older Galaxy A series models, such as the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34, will receive the Galaxy AI update.

In addition to expanding AI capabilities to the A series, Samsung recently introduced new Galaxy AI features like Portrait Studio and Sketch to Image during the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6.

These features will soon be available on the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip5, Galaxy S24, and Galaxy S23 series as part of the forthcoming One UI 6.1.1 update.

By incorporating some of its Galaxy AI features into the Galaxy A series, Samsung is not only enhancing the functionality of its most popular mid-range smartphones but also giving users a taste of its advanced AI technology.

This strategy could encourage users to consider upgrading to more premium devices to access the complete suite of Galaxy AI features. As Samsung continues to innovate and integrate AI into its devices, the company is poised to offer a more personalized and intelligent experience to a wider range of users.
