Samsung launches GamePad console for smartphones, tablets

Samsung Electronics today introduced the Smartphone GamePad and Mobile Console app to which users can connect to their Galaxy devices and turn into them into a gaming console. According to Samsung, the Smartphone GamePad will transforms the user’s Galaxy smartphone or tablet into a portable gaming console or even a home console. It can be attached to Galaxy devices which have a screen between 4 to 6.3-inches.Users can also connect Galaxy devices to their TV through an HDMI cable or AllShare Screen Mirroring. GamePad connects with smartphones and tablets through Bluetooth. The device is compatible with Galaxy devices running Android 4.1 and above and has been optimised for Android 4.3 Galaxy phones such as Galaxy Note 3, S4, Note II, and S III. Users with Android 4.3 and above devices can connect with GamePad via NFC tag and get quicker access to games via the “PLAY” button. The Mobile Console app is available for download through Samsung Apps or by tapping the GamePad’s “PLAY” button, and offers 35 dedicated games at launch. Samsung says more games will released in 2014. Currently the GamePad is available in select European markets and will be available in additional regions in the coming weeks.
