Samsung has launched the rugged version of its flagship smartphone the Galaxy S4 and this one is called the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.
The Galaxy S4 Active is dust and water proof and can be submerged in water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of one metre. The earphone jack is also water-resistant.
However, other than these features the phone has largely been left untouched, barring the camera being a 8 MP camera instead of the 13 MP version on the regular version.
It has a 1.9 GHZ quad-core processor like the US version of the device and not an eight-core processor like the version that was launched in India. The battery of the S4 Active is the the same as the regular S4, and the screen remains the same in resolution and size.
It has 5.0-inch Full HD TFT LCD screen screen at 443 pixels per inch. The screen also allows for ‘Glove Touch’, meaning it can be be can be fully operated while wearing gloves.
The Galaxy S4 Active will be available for purchase initially only in the US and Sweden, and there’s no word on when it launches in other markets. It will be offered in three different colour options: Urban Grey, Dive Blue and Orange Flare, said Samsung.
