Samsung has announced the availability of regional language interfaces and applications for its Indian costumers. According to the Samsung announcement, Samsung smartphone users can choose user interfaces in nine Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telegu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and Guajrati. As of today, the new services will be supported on Galaxy Grand, Galaxy S4 and Tab 3. The company is, however, planning on expanding the availability of regional content on its products, starting this month with the Galaxy Star. Image courtesy Samsung.[/caption] “The number of languages being offered will too be increased,” Samsung announced in their press release. “Popular applications like Bharat Matrimony, Ganesh speak, Indian property, Times of India, BSE, and Mydala amongst hundreds of other applications will soon be available in vernacular language for users. Customers can right away get experience in their own language by using ChatOn, Facebook, Gmail, and Newshunt on select Samsung devices.” “Availability of content combined with easy access is the key driver for usage of any language,” said Vineet Taneja, country head, Samsung Mobile and IT, Samsung India, while announcing the launch. “We clearly sense a need and a demand among users to communicate in local language using their mobile devices. That is the reason, as an industry leader, we are taking the lead by offering users the ease of accessing regional language content in their preferred language.” “In Samsung we will increase the number of devices that offer regional language content and experience from next month onward as well as enhance the bouquet of languages for our consumers,” said Taneja. The applications with local language support can be downloaded from the Samsung Apps store, which will house the updated versions of these apps. The release does not mention how the company is planning to bring the updated user interface to Galaxy devices, but website www.androidos.in has surmised that it will probably be done via a software update. " It will most likely to done via a software update, so look update for an update notification on your Galaxy devices," says the technology website. “You will be able to enable a particular language by going to Settings and then Languages and Input.”
