Samsung is gearing up to unveil its latest foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold6 soon. If rumours are to be believed, Samsung plans on unveiling the device at an event in Paris, likely on July 10, 2024.
The successor to the Galaxy Z Fold5 promises several upgrades, including an improved and much less visible crease on the main display, some enhanced design elements, and probably a more refined folding mechanism or hinge.
While Samsung has been the king of the hill when it comes to foldables, owing to the fact that they were able to capitalise on their first wave of foldables, fairly well, the South Korean tech giant is facing some heated competition. Last year, the OnePlus Open was crowned as one of the best tablet-styled foldable device, despite launching their first foldable phone. Then there is Vivo, who, with their Fold X3 is making significant strides in India’s foldable phone segment.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 will continue to offer three storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. As per a report by Smartprix, despite maintaining these configurations from the previous model, Samsung has adjusted the pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold6 in the United States:
- Galaxy Z Fold6 (256GB): $1899.99 or about Rs 1,58,727.06 when converted
- Galaxy Z Fold6 (512GB): $2019.99 or about Rs 1,68,751.98 when converted
- Galaxy Z Fold6 (1TB): $2259.99 or about Rs 1,88,801.82 when converted
All of these conversions are based on the exchange rate as prevalent on June 13, 2024, at Rs 83.54 per dollar.
Keen-eyed observers will note that these prices reflect an increase of $100 across all variants compared to last year.

More ShortsSeveral leaks suggest that the Galaxy Z Fold6 will be available in three colours: Navy, Silver Shadow, and Pink.
In terms of specifications, the Galaxy Z Fold6 weighs 239 grams, which is notably lighter than its predecessor’s 253 grams. It features a 7.6-inch display, highlighting its expansive screen real estate ideal for multitasking and multimedia consumption.
If we were to speculate what the Fold6 may cost in India, we have to factor, in that Samsung usually charges a 5-10 per cent premium in India, compared to the US market. The leaked US pricing suggests a potential cost of approximately Rs. 1,66,715.85 when converted from dollars.
Given typical pricing strategies, Samsung might round off the price to around Rs. 1,69,999 or position it higher, such as around Rs. 1,74,999, to maintain its premium branding and accommodate for local factors like taxes and import duties.
Samsung is expected to offer attractive pre-booking incentives and bundled accessory options to entice early adopters of the Galaxy Z Fold6. More details on these offers are expected to be revealed closer to the launch date, further driving consumer interest in Samsung’s latest foldable flagship.
